About Carolyn Miller, MD, FACOG
Originally from Raleigh, Dr. Carrie Miller attended high school in Cary, and earned her undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. She then completed her medical school training and OB/GYN residency at the University of Pennsylvania.
Between college and medical school, she worked with a women’s community center in Boston, followed by a clinical research position within the pregnancy loss and family planning department at the University of Pennsylvania. She has also studied internationally, spending time in rural Botswana during college and medical school.
For two years following residency, she worked at Olmsted Medical Center, a community hospital and birthing center in Rochester,
Minnesota (where Mayo Clinic is located) while her husband finished his fellowship. She is thrilled to return to the Triangle to be closer to her family, who is still in Raleigh.
In her practice, her patients inspire her daily.
“I’m inspired by the strength I see in my patients every day — despite the uncertainty of a new diagnosis, the physical challenges of pregnancy, or the emotional pain of loss — all while holding up the world for their families,” she said.
She lives in Chapel Hill with her husband who is an ophthalmologist at UNC. They have two young daughters. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, biking, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her children.
