About Visha Burkart, NP

Visha “Vi” Burkart is a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner whose focus is on patient-centered care, providing the assistance patients need to live the healthiest life possible. It was this patient advocacy that drew her toward a healthcare career.

“I wanted the opportunity to educate and advocate, as well as provide hands-on care,” she said. “I practice patient-centered, evidence-based, and trauma-informed care for all identities and orientations.”

She earned her nursing degree at Duke University, followed by graduate school at Vanderbilt University, where she received her Master’s of Science in Nursing degree. She’s a member of several professional organizations, including: The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), The National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH), The International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN), The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) and The American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS).

In addition, she has worked as a sexual assault nurse examiner with adult and adolescent patients.

Married with two children, she enjoys spending time outdoors–she has even hiked the Appalachian trail! She loves to commute by bicycle. Medicine isn’t her only area of expertise: She also holds a Master’s of Fine Arts degree.
