During her time in Cary, she has had the honor and privilege of helping thousands of women with their healthcare needs, including assisting in the delivery of over 4,000 babies at WakeMed Cary.

As a first-generation LatinX-American fluent in Spanish and proud of her Costa Rican heritage, Jessica brings cultural sensitivity and a holistic approach to care. Her educational journey began with an Associate of Science in Nursing from Broward Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Science with honors from Florida International University. She earned her Master’s in Nursing/Nurse-Midwifery from the University of Miami, where she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau. Jessica has also contributed to the training of 40 Nurse Midwives globally and serves as an Adjunct Faculty at East Carolina University’s College of Nursing.

Jessica’s diverse healthcare experience spans Medical-Surgical, Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Disease, Orthopedics, Cardiology, and Perinatal ICU, enriching her holistic patient care philosophy. She is passionate about integrating Western medicine with alternative therapies such as acupuncture, chiropractic care, breath-work, yoga, and spirituality to promote optimal health. Her approach emphasizes informed decision-making, physiological birth advocacy, and personalized care.

Inspired from childhood by her mother and grandmother, Jessica’s love for midwifery blossomed at age 10 after watching “The Miracle of Birth.” Her commitment to empowering women and educating others is rooted in her belief in treating patients with kindness, respect, and humor. Her goal is for every woman to leave her care fully informed, confident, and prioritized feeling truly valued.

Jessica’s philosophy is driven by her core value to treat others as she wishes to be treated, creating a supportive, human connection that makes a lasting impact. She is honored to be part of her patients’ journeys and looks forward to inspiring future generations of midwives and women.
