About Korbi Burkey, MD

Dr. Korbi Burkey is a native of a small town in Iowa called Walker. His passion for health care stemmed from extended hours of volunteering and working in an Emergency Department prior to starting medical school. He graduated from The University of Iowa – Carver College of Medicine before completing his residency at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was drawn to the warmer weather after finishing a summer research project with UNC Chapel Hill during his time in undergraduate school. Additionally, he wanted to be closer to other Tar Heel fans as he grew up and became a diehard UNC basketball fan. Beside basketball, he enjoys spending time outdoors, playing with pets, and traveling. His interest in Women’s Health was sparked during two Global Health trips to South Africa.
