About Anthony L. Masciello, MD, FACOG

Originally from Tampa, FL, Anthony L. Masciello moved to the Winston-Salem area in 1994 when he joined our team. He graduated summa cum laude from Mercer University and received his medical degree in 1985 from the University of South Florida. He completed his residency at the University of Florida Health Science Center Jacksonville in 1989. After residency, he served in the National Health Service Corps, providing care for disadvantaged patients in Fort Myers, Florida. Dr. Masciello returned to Jacksonville in private practice in 1991. He has served as Division Director at Forsyth Medical Center and Medical Park Hospital.

In addition to caring for his patients, Dr. Masciello dedicates his time and talents to helping others. Since 2006, he has volunteered with Hands of Hope NC (https://www.handsofhopenc.org/) a local medical mission group providing care in the Dominican Republic. Dr. Masciello serves on the board of the Live Like Norah Foundation (https://www.livelikenorah.org/) in honor of Norah Smitherman to provide scholarships for students who exemplify her passion for ministry and academics. He ran the Boston Marathon from 2015 to 2108 with Team MR8, (https://teammr8.org/), a charitable organization in honor of Martin Richard, the 8-year-old boy who tragically died in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings. Team MR8 honors Martin’s message of “No more hurting people. Peace.” by investing in education, athletics, and community. In 2022, he ran the Philadelphia Marathon to support for the American Association of Cancer Research (https://www.aacr.org/), and the New York City marathon in 2023 for the Brave Like Gabe Foundation (https://www.bravelikegabe.org/) to support rare cancer research.

In addition to general obstetric and gynecologic care, Dr. Masciello has a special interest in operative hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. When he’s not caring for patients, he enjoys running, water sports, and spending time with his wife, Gena, and their adult children. He is proud his son and daughter have chosen to care for others as physicians.
