Sammy McRae joined the Durham Women’s team in 2021. She received her master’s degree from Vanderbilt University as a Certified Nurse Midwife. Sammy has been passionate about working with women for as long as she can remember. With a background working as a doula and a labor & delivery nurse, helping women feel empowered and informed throughout their pregnancy is Sammy’s main incentive as a provider.

With a heart for educating patients, Sammy loves working with women at all points in their journey, whether it be discussing contraception options or preparing women for menopause. You will find Sammy in both the clinical and hospital setting.

Sammy is a native to the Triangle and lives in Durham with her partner, two dogs, and a cat. When not caring for patients, you will find her traveling, biking, and camping with her husband Silas

Waiting time to get checked-in, waiting for the physician to come to the exam room was minimal! Staff was helpful and kind. Dr. Briscoe was focused on me as a person and taking time to answer my concerns questions and offering multiple routes of solutions. Additionally preparing me for my first mammogram experience which I was to have immediately following my apt.
