Undergraduate School: Biology at Florida State University

Dr. Piper earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Florida State University and her medical degree at Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is a native of Jacksonville, Florida and is thrilled to be returning to warm weather and sunny beaches here in North Carolina. She completed her residency training at Michigan State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan and earned many accolades for her warm bedside manner, calm demeanor, and enthusiasm for teaching. Dr. Piper enjoys performing minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and delivering babies. She has a special interest in abnormal uterine bleeding, infertility, and high-risk obstetrics. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages and backgrounds and is committed to diversity and inclusion.

When not at work, Dr. Piper enjoys being outdoors, hiking, swimming, traveling, and spending time with her husband who is also a physician. They are thrilled to be the new parents to their first baby, Ellie!

Gynecological Problem Visit

Provider was not informed on my appt. I wasn’t able to get answers for my concern. Provider dismissed my concern of my vaginal bleeding after almost three years without a menstrual cycle. Provider gave me the option of a biopsy in which was very painful and repeatedly said I can stop during it in which I finally said, yes, please stop because of the pain I was in. Provider then tried to talk me into giving it another try. Provider was very condescending in her tone and in empathic towards my concern with my situation.

Endometrial Biopsy

In spite of using the prescription for 2 pills of Cytotec (200 mcg each), Dr. Piper was unable to perform the endometrial biopsy because she was unable to see the cervix due to my Stage 3 rectocele, without a great deal of pain to me. We tried twice. I was still satisfied because she was so patient and caring and suggested two other alternatives we could try. One was having the procedure in the hospital with anesthesia, and the other was to get a ultrasound at the Morrisville office on the same day that could measure the lining of the uterus (to rule out uterine cancer) and check for ulcers in my pelvis and the position of a fibroid tumor.
