Dr. Broadway is a North Carolina native and proud of her roots. She attended UNC Chapel Hill where she obtained her Bachelor of Science from the Gillings School of Public Health with concentration in Nutrition. She attended medical school at the Brody School of Medicine at ECU and went on to complete Ob/Gyn residency at East Tennessee State University where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism society. She is excited to be joining A Woman’s View this summer.

“I chose the field of obstetrics and gynecology in part because women are at a critical point in their lives when they present for care. I am so rewarded in empowering my patients to help make decisions to improve their health and achieve better outcomes. I enjoy everything from contraceptive counseling to delivering babies to surgical management of the pelvis. We have such a wide variety of care to offer.”

Outside of women’s health, Dr. Broadway enjoys spending time with her husband and high school sweetheart Sam, keeping up with their energetic toddler Lewis, boating on Lake James, eating Mexican food, and watching Disney movies and cop dramas.

Dr Broadway was super nice, my appointment was just a follow-up on a new medicine that I started taking last year. The appointment was super fast but the time I spent with Dr. broadway was very good. She listened to what I had say and checked in on how the medicine was working. She was encouraging in that I’ve lost weight over the past year and want to keep it up.

I am anemic and have had to explain in great detail what labs are needed for my condition as it doesn’t show up in the typical way to all but one provider (Heather Carswell, who is amazing). I thought I had finally been heard at my last appointment only to find out the repeat labs for iron studies were not sent in with my order until my CBC came back abnormal. I feel like my input was dismissed although it’s my own health history that I know very well. Now there is more of a delay in getting my labs back and getting relief because I feel like they didn’t believe me. Heather Carswell ordered the correct lab panel on 6/28 which confirmed severe anemia and I’m not sure why those same labs weren’t just re ordered as they were the ones that were severely out of range.

Lab Work

Dr. Broadway is a professional, empathetic and kind caregiver. The blood test nurse was terrific. Labcorp notified me by email to say results were in. I logged into my site there and this is on the same day/night. But Labcorp doesn't have them posted to my account and only is showing one test from my blood panel in March 2024. My doctor at A Woman's View and the nurses I've encountered are all outstanding. Labcorp...not so much.
