Dr. Ann Collins began practicing with Centre OB/GYN in 1995. She has a bachelor of science from Duke University and earned her Medical Degree at Duke University School of Medicine. She graduated from Duke Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Collins completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.

As a native of Elm City, Dr. Collins is committed to providing quality healthcare to women in North Carolina. She has always been a science person who is fascinated by human development and sees the human body as the ultimate “machine”.

In 2019, Dr. Collins became the first woman to serve as chair of the UNC REX Healthcare board. Additionally, she has served as chair of the UNC Rex Ethics Committee and the Medical Executive Committee.

Dr. Collins is an avid college basketball fan who enjoys watching and attending games with her husband and two sons. When not in the office or at the hospital, she enjoys relaxing at the beach with friends and family.

I was trying to fill out a questionnaire on an I pad at the beginning of the appt and the nurse kept asking me questions about medications at the same time. I kept losing my concentration and the screen would go dormant and I’d have to wake it up and continue and then she’d ask questions and it kept happening. They need to let you fill out the questionnaire without interruption.

IUD Insertion / Removal

I had enough reminders to prepare for my appointment. At the clinic, I was seen in a timely manner. The nurse practitioner had everything organized before Dr. Collins could come in. Dr. Collins explained to me of what I should expect post IUD removal. Dr. Collins had delivered my baby 5 years ago and my experience with her has always been pleasant, even during my consultation with her during pregnancy. She would be my first preference to go to for OBGYN matters
