Welcome to Raleigh Gynecology & Wellness

Overall patient rating:

Raleigh Gynecology and Wellness, PA has been serving the women of this community for over 30 years. Dr. Frederick C. Heaton, our practice’s founding physician, was a champion of compassion and professionalism. He left his busy obstetrical career in the 1980s and created a unique practice offering advanced gynecologic care for the women of Raleigh.

The practice has evolved over the last several decades, but it has stayed true to its mission. Our providers stay current with the latest advancements in gynecology, and patients can have confidence that they are receiving the most up-to-date care. Our practice utilizes evidence-based medicine, but our providers recognize the importance of the mind-body connection in women’s health. We are listeners and always consider your individual needs when caring for you. By focusing solely on gynecology, our patients can have our full attention to address their non-obstetrical needs that at times can be neglected in busy OB/GYN practices.

We love getting to know you as a person, and annual wellness exams give us the opportunity to do so year after year. We know you can have difficult times as well. Being a woman has its many challenges and things can come up along the way. You may need help managing menstrual problems, finding the right birth control, guidance in starting a family, managing an abnormal pap smear, dealing with perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms, or working through sexual health issues. Let us help you navigate the hard times. We want to be your partner in a life-long health journey.

We also recognize the personal and private nature of gynecology and we focus our efforts on making patients feel more comfortable at our office. With that in mind, we are very proud to have an all-women team caring for patients. The goal of our entire team is to provide the highest standard of health care and to do it with kindness and empathy.

    Annual Well Woman Exam

    She cares and actually listens

    Menopause Management / Education

Everyone was friendly and helpful. I really like Amanda. Answered all my questions and never made me feel like my concerns were unjustified.

    Office Visit / Follow-up

Love how much the nurses and doctors care! Always happy to answer my questions. One thing that stands out to me about this practice is how efficient they are at returning messages and the ability to have a nurse line to return your calls. There’s are so many annoying robots that answer the phone at other doctors offices lol! It’s nice to be able to get ahold of real people so easily. The staff being so positive and helpful really makes a difference. I can tell they foster a good team environment

    Perimenopause Treatment for Women

Dr. Kaminski always takes her time with me. She is helping me through a prolonged and difficult perimenopause and she really feels like a partner. I know she cares about me and my health and happiness.

Dr. Benevides was absolutely wonderful. Could not find a more caring and sensitive provider.

    Annual Well Woman Exam

"Dr." Amanda, as always, was exceptional. She remembered me from last year, although it has been slightly over a year since I've seen her, and I transferred to her after Virgina left. She listened to all of my issues (some quite embarrassing), but she made me feel completely comfortable and explained the situation and the remedy with compassion, thoughtfulness, and kindness. I truly appreciated her communication style, her bedside manner, and especially her thorough knowledge of the subject presented, as well as her ability to make me feel heard as well as completely at ease. The other staff were also very kind, especially the nurse. She was warm and friendly, and seemed genuinely happy that I had lost weight, and was very thorough in getting my history and any changes to it. I do want to mention this. The only thing I didn't like was that I was told, after already waiting 6 months for an appointment, that unless I allowed them to place my business credit card in my file, I would not be allowed to see my provider today. That was never explained to me before the visit, and for the receptionist to wait until the day of my appointment and tell me I couldn't see my provider unless I agreed to put "my business card," (the only one I had with me,) on file, I would have to wait another 6 months before I could see Amanda, my provider. She did give me an option of paying $100 "in cash" which she said was refundable immediately, which made no sense to me. Also, no one made me aware of that prior to the visit, so I didn't bring $100 in cash with me. The whole ordeal felt like "strong-armed robbery." I also pay all of my bills, so paying my bill was not an issue at all. The fact that I would have had to wait another 6 months was particularly disturbing to me as I was having some issues, that I alerted the receptionist to. In front of everyone, she asked me what kind of issues I was having. I didn't feel compelled to share a very personal issue with the receptionist in front of everyone in the waiting room, so I declined to share that with her. I felt very, very disrespected by the younger receptionist, but felt I had no choice except to place my business card on file or she was not going to allow me to see my provider which she made very clear to me. None of this was shared with me prior to my visit. None, so I either complied with her request or lost I had to wait another 6 months. I still gave a 5-highly satisfied rating because "Dr." Amanda, and the nursing staff were so professional and so wonderful, and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else for gynecological services. I would like to add that when I left, there was another assistant checking me out. She was the older of the two. She was very nice, very professional and attempted to help me with scheduling next year's exam and my breast exam. I also met with a phlebotomist who was also very cordial, and very helpful. Even though you have my business card on file, even with not alerting me to this new procedure, I do not want to see another provider except "Dr." Amanda, and the 5-star rating still stands. I do think something should be changed about that protocol because it's just simply unfair to patients who do not know or who have not been alerted to that. The "punishment" for not knowing is also unacceptable. I explained to the receptionist repeatedly that I only had my card used for business, and did not bring another card. I actually had just changed purses. Had I been notified, I could have done something differently perhaps, but no one notified me of this new procedure. I look forward to continuing the relationship with your offices, especially with Amanda and her nurse, and look forward to getting my mammogram done with your company in May. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to express myself. I would hope that the procedures change and you'll either notify individuals of the change or at least give them time to provide a correct card without delaying them being able to get services, especially after such a long wait initially. Other than that, my visit was exceptional.
