Ultrasound
Ultrasound
Our high-tech, high-touch approach includes the latest in ultrasound technology. Ultrasound enables us – and you – to see your baby as he or she grows throughout your pregnancy. It is a safe and painless test that uses sound waves to create images showing the baby’s position and shape.
Find A ProviderThe American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends having at least one ultrasound during your pregnancy. Depending on your situation, you may need additional ultrasound tests as your pregnancy progresses. Ultrasounds can safely be done in the first, second, or third trimester.
An ultrasound will help your healthcare provider:
- Detect whether your pregnancy is outside the uterus
- Confirm your expected date of delivery
- See whether there might be more than one baby
- See whether your baby is growing at a normal rate
- Record your baby’s heartbeat and breathing movements
- Check the amount of amniotic fluid in your uterus
- Check the position of the placenta in the late stages of your pregnancy.
